During the second stage of the process, the pre-expanded particles, containing 90% air, are stabilized for 24 hours.
As the newly expanded particles cool down, in the first stage, a space is created in the interior which must be offset by the penetration of air by diffusion. In this way, the perlites reach a higher mechanical stability and improve their expansion capacity, which is advantageous for the following transformation stage.
This process takes place during the intermediate rest of the pre-expanded material in ventilated silos. At the same time the perlites dry out.
